Why does talking to a Counsellor or life coach make life so much easier?

We are all on our own life journey.  We are different in what we want to do, and how we want to do it. We all have different personalities, skillsets, viewpoints and goals. A life coach is trained to walk alongside you, guiding you to where you want to go in life. A life coach can help you to identify your strengths, develop them, identify personal and professional goals and to attain those goals. The role of the life coach is to assist you throughout the change process.

Talking to a Life Coach about our challenges or goals has many benefits, including a decrease in anxiety and depressive symptoms, improved self-esteem, and even a better night’s sleep. This is because talking to someone about a specific challenge enables us to think more clearly about an issue. It enhances our ability to reflect on a problem, have more empathy and understanding for ourselves and others, gain new perspectives on a topic, and problem-solve more creatively.

"Bottling stuff up", alternatively, does not contribute to our health in any way.  We all need someone to listen to our story at some point in our lives.  Many of us struggle with relationship issues, how we feel about ourselves, and what our next steps should be. Talking to a Life Coach can help you to express and explore all of these issues.

The overall aim is to support you, to explore the next step on your life journey, and to use new strategies and life skills in order to bounce back from life's ups and downs and ultimately, to love the life you live!

About me

WHO WILL I BE talking WITH?

My name is Annemarie. I am a 'new' New Zealander for 20 years now. I arrived in New Zealand as a registered teacher and school counsellor. In addition to my overseas qualifications I have completed a degree in Psychology and post graduate degree in Guidance and Counselling, both at Massey University. Moreover, I have graduated from the Centre of Excellence in England with a diploma in Life Coaching.

I like doing things around the house, watching movies based on true life events, and watching documentaries about ordinary people achieving the so-called ‘Impossible’.

Most of all, I thoroughly enjoy motivating and encouraging the people around me. It is amazing when someone realises and/or experiences the excitement of reaching success! Success is absolutely possible, and it is often attained by making small adjustments to the way we think, or by doing something even slightly different from 'the usual'.

I have qualifications in Education, Human Resources and Life Coaching. A Degree in Business Psychology and a Postgraduate qualification in Guidance and Counselling.  I had roles in many different working environments that contributed to a wide range of life experiences.

Vision Statement:

To encourage and empower clients of all ages to grow their self-worth. To guide clients in setting and achieving realistic goals, and then, to help them to hold on to these goals as a compass for their everyday lives.

What is Self-Worth? Self-worth means believing that you’re fundamentally worthy of love and happiness as a person. It’s often used interchangeably with words such as self-esteem and self-respect.

What is Encouragement? To spur on courage in someone. Offering words of encouragement is a powerful tool. Great leaders encourage others to believe in themselves, to become confident, to grow, and make positive changes in their lives.

Rudolf Dreikurs, one of the fathers of psychology said:

"People need encouragement like a plant needs water."
